Personal Space

I don't know about most of you but I know I really hate it when my personal space is invaded. I'll explain, when I'm behind my desk working, sometimes various people will come to my desk because they need to find a certain work ticket that I am entering. I have all the folders of tickets on my desk so people will have access to them if they need them. I truly hate it when some one needs one and they come around my desk and stand behind it, right beside me, like 6 inches away for like 10 or 15 minutes!!!! So now I can't really do any work because they are totally invading my work space and I'm distracted and agitated because they are in my personal space. It's even worse when they are wearing some really stinky old ladyish perfume to top it all off. Don't get me wrong I'm not totally standoffish, I like hugs and being close.....but to a very select few people, not stinky co-workers I barely know!! And some of them, one in particular, don't ever seem to get the hint that they are interrupting my work and it would be nice if they just took the files back to their own desk or anywhere else to look through them there. I try to make suggestions to people, but in this office you have to be soooo damn careful how you talk to people because 9 times out of 10 they will take things the wrong way. I can't even get up and leave my desk while they are there because I cover the phones here. I have to think of some way to avoid this dilemma before it drives me bonkers, lol.

Why This Blog?

Ok, I finally have some time here so I'll explain the purpose of this blog.

I currently work for Flint Energy Servies as a receptionist The office I work in is a decent size for this areas, there are about 40 people in the main building. The biggest problem here is that too many of these people are women.....and they all treat eachother like sh#t. The tattling, the gossiping, the cliques....your basic grade school playground behavior. The worst part? It's allowed to happen ....it's even rewarded!!! You'd think in an office this small something would be done about it. My boss, the office admin supervisor (or Mrs. Doubtfire as some of us call her, she is also referred to as "The Warden") is a 64 year old cranky old bag. She is very set in her ways, everything has to be absolutly perfect. She has all her little "pets" that come to her with all their little tattlings, and then they get their cookie or pat on the head or whatever it is that they get and next thing you know your being called up to the office over some petty little thing.

That's really just part of the frustration of working in this office. I was tired of ranting about it on my regular blog, so I decided to create a whole new blog for all my work related rants. Any of you out there who work in a similar office or have worked in an office in the past will know exactly what I'm talking about here. SO feel free to share your rants about work as well.. We all need to get this stuff off of our chests and really there's only so much our significant other or family wants to listen to, lol. So rant away my fellow office workers!! We are all part of "Office Hell".

And Here We Go Again

Well here I am Monday morning back at work after a very refreshing week end off. Come in do my usual routine , yadda yadda yadda. 8:30 rolls around a friend of mine gives me a call to tell me that she's sorry she didn't stop by the office on Friday, then I hear "The Warden" at the top of the staris, she standing up there spying on me as she usually does, she can plainly see that I am on the phone, but as far a s she knows, it cold be anybody, but she still bellows out "*Regan turn on the lights!" So I pretty much hang up on my friend. She comes down the stairs and I make a casual comment that it's harder to notice if the lights are on or not when it's lighter in the mornings. All she can say back is that I'm going to have to make a list of the things I have to do in the mornings if I'm going to keep forgetting. AAARRRRGGGHHH!!! Because I forget ALL the time????? I've been here at this job for over a year and a half, I think I know what I'm doing. She really needs to realize that we are all human and are prone to a fewe mistakes every once in awhile and she shouldn't make us feel like an idiot every time something minor happens. It's amazing how she manages to ruin my mood for the entire day almost every day. And yes I know I shouldn't let her get to me like this, but it's so hard when it keeps on happening.

BTW - *Regan, is not my real name, my real name is Reagan, but for some reason she insists on calling me Regan, she has never bothered to learn the correct pronounciation of my name. What a super boss....not.

Good Grief.....

So I got up this morning thinking TGIF, I feel great it's Friday! Get to work on time everyone seems to be in good spirits. Then "the Warden" comes down the stairs..... Of course I say my usual "Good Morning" and she does her usual barely aknowleding my presence type good morning in response. She has the look on her face that you know means she's on a mission. I hear her making her way around the office questioning various people about the coffee that was ordered to refill our coffee machine this week, apparently some one ordered the wrong coffee and it's slightly more expensive than our usual. OH MY GOD NOOOOOO!!!!! How can an oil company possibly afford this?????!!!!! So she finsihes making her "rounds" and her cross esaminations and she's on her way back up the stairs. She stops, turns to me and asks me "So why are we paying this much for coffee?" in her usual accusitory tone. I said "I have no idea but that does sound like a lot for coffee". To which she replies "Oh so you wouldn't know anything about it then?' again in a very accusitory tone. I just smiled and shook my head, when what I really wanted to do was flip her the bird and tell her to sit and spin!!!! With a dissatisfied look on her face she stomps back up the stairs. I have absolutly nothing to do with ordering any f--ing coffee!! GOD!!! Thanks for ruining my Friday!!

This is just one of many BS situations I have to deal with in this office. I will catch you all up on what exactly I'm ranting about on this blog in another post. For now, TGIF even more than ever, and I'll be hitting the bar tonight :).
